Sheriff Bill Gore has been a long time supporter of the Crime Victims Fund and has served as a Member of the Board of Directors since 2007. His valuable leadership has enabled CVF to thrive and his support has directly helped thousands of victims in San Diego.
What you appreciate the most about the work of the CVF:
“The ability of our organization to
provide immediate financial help and resources to crime victims. Crime victims, in many cases, need to focus
on their mental or physical health and well-being and not worry about immediate monetary needs for essentials.
CVF helps provide resources for those items and needs, allowing the healing process to move forward. As the
Sheriff of San Diego, I know all to well the damage that crime can do to a community like ours. I am so proud
of CVF and that I can personally give back to those who are in immediate need. I have been in Law Enforcement
for close to 40 years and I never get used to the suffering and damage that is inflicted by the criminal
element of our society. That is one reason why I have joined the CVF and have dedicated my life’s profession to Law Enforcement.”
Why is the CVF important to the San Diego Community:
“There is a great need for our organization to
provide for immediate assistance to crime victims. As I travel around this beautiful County of ours I meet
great people. Sometimes, these people need immediate help and they have no where else to turn. The CVF gives
instant aid to those victims. I can think of no better way to spend a portion of my time, supporting that endeavor.”
Most memorable CVF moment:
“It’s about helping people. If I can be a part of securing future
contributions to keep this exceptional organization moving forward and providing help, that’s what its all about.
That’s what keeps me going, that’s what is memorable. The stories of all the people we have helped is
moving. I feel good knowing I have made a difference in peoples lives. How lucky am I?”
Wish for CVF:
“That the Fund continues in perpetuity, providing help and assistance, growing bigger and
stronger. Unfortunately, as your Sheriff, having worked in Law Enforcement as long as I have, I know there will be a
continued need for this organization. I am committed to making this the safest urban county in America, but I know
the need will still be there. I wish that the CVF will continue to sustain itself and that all the hard working Board
members continue on. The Board is a wonderful group of volunteers committed to making San Diego a better place.”
