The Crime Victims Fund operates entirely on funds donated by individuals, businesses and corporations as well as private, corporate and community foundations. Since it receives no government funding, it is not subject to the restrictions inherent in some government programs allowing greater flexibility in providing services to victims.
One way you can help support victims in our community is to make a contribution to The Crime Victims Fund. The Crime Victims Fund is recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and all contributions to it are tax-deductible as allowable by law. You can make a contribution to the Fund online by clicking the button above, or you may mail a check to the address below.

You will get a letter back from The Crime Victims Fund thanking you for your generous, tax-deductible contribution that may be used for income tax purposes.
The Crime Victims Fund raises program funds through grants from private, community and corporate foundations. In addition, many employee clubs and associations also support the Crime Victims Fund through annual donations.
A portion of The Fund’s revenue is derived from the R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility’s Inmate Community Crew program. The Crews perform services for partnering agencies and a percentage of the fees are contributed to The Fund. The Crime Victims Fund has been a recipient of these funds in San Diego County since 1990. To see others who have given generously in support of crime victims, please see our "Wall of Donors."
The Fund produces a series of community fundraising events during the course of the year to raise money for its programs. As with all fundraising for the organization, The Fund depends on the generosity of individuals and businesses for attendance, sponsorships and donations.
For more information on upcoming events, see the "Events" section on this site, or call the Fund at (619) 702-8725
Beneficiaries of the Emergency Victim Assistance program are referred by a Victim Assistance Advocate in a County District Attorney, City Attorney, or United States Attorney’s Office. We also receive referrals from members of the Family Justice Center Alliance, Police Departments, Sheriff’s Departments, or other law enforcement, social service, educational, nonprofit, social service or medical provider.
Typically, financial assistance is issued within 24-48 hours after the referral, to provide for daily necessities like food, transportation, shelter, medical expenses, property damage and other costs linked directly to the crime. Stipends usually range from $25 to $500 and are issued directly to a vendor such as a locksmith, glass repair, grocery store, landlord, health clinic, or other merchant to support the needs of the victim or their family.
The greatest need of The Crime Victims Fund is donations. In order for us to help in your community, we must link with local supporters. Please share this website with your friends, family, co-workers, employers, local chapters, affiliates, civic or social groups, foundations, public agencies, private partners, tribe, membership club, fraternity, sorority or others.
The Crime Victims Fund has recently become partners with the National Football League to honor Public Safety Appreciation Day on September 11, 2011 -- the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11 when the San Diego Chargers take on the Minnesota Vikings at their home opener at “The Q.” The Crime Victims Fund has been recognized with proclamations from the Office of the Governor of California, the Mayor of San Diego and the County Bar Association.
“The Crime Victims Fund is the only organization in the entire County whose sole purpose is to provide immediate assistance to crime victims. They are a unique resource and a great asset to our county.”
- Former San Diego County Sheriff Bill Kolender
